The news that petrol-heads everywhere have been waiting for has finally arrived.
The top speed of the new Ford GT supercar is a mindboggling 216 mph – making it the fastest car we’ve ever built for the road.
Flat out, a Ford GT driver will cover the length of a football pitch every second, and could travel from London to Edinburgh in less than two hours.
Clever technologies like a lightweight carbon fibre body, a powerful engine with not one, but two turbochargers, and active suspension and aerodynamics that adapt to provide the fastest performance – mean the Ford GT isn’t only quick in a straight line.
When we took it around a race-track it was faster than supercars made by Ferrari and McLaren.
“The Ford GT is all about performance,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, global product development and chief technical officer.
