Back in the 1960s we built the Ford GT40 to beat Italian supercars at their own game – on the race track.
Half a century later the new Ford GT is still hitting the competition where it hurts even before the race-car version goes into action next year.
Our new ultra-high-performance supercar has beaten the Ferrari 488 Spider and Lamborghini Huracan to be named “Children’s Choice” in the “Grand Prix Car Frankfurt Motor Show” competition held by RTL and Auto Plus in France – the first time ever a car that’s not a Ferrari has won the award.
With kids, jaw-dropping looks and big numbers are what count. The Ford GT has both, with a super-sleek, aerodynamic, lightweight carbon fibre body and 600 PS twin-turbo V6 engine.
Junior petrol-heads needn’t wait until they’re old enough to see over the steering wheel to try out their new favourite car, either. The Ford GT stars in the new Forza Motorsport 6 game for Xbox One, where they can race to their heart’s content.
That should keep them quiet until lunch.
