For Ken Block’s latest tyre-smoking project the YouTube star has picked our legendary Escort RS Mk2.
Seeing what bonkers car-creation the Hoonigan development team has come up with is all part of the Gymkhana experience. And this time Block has gone all retro with a 1978 model he bought back in 2008.
“This car has been something I’ve been working on slowly for a long time now,” Block said. “I’m stoked with how the whole thing turned out.”
The first rear-wheel drive Gymkhana car, the Escort RS is built to top-level World Rally Championships tarmac-spec, with a 330 bhp 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine and six-speed sequential gearbox. Japanese bodykit designers Rocket Bunny produced the unique wide-arch kit that fits in with the rest of Block’s Hoonigan fleet, including his Ford Fiesta Global Rallycross car, and the world’s first performance all-wheel drive 1965 Ford Mustang.
