Police put hot hatch on trial

November 25, 2016

Combining supercar-rivalling performance with hatchback practicality – we wouldn’t be surprised if our Focus RS is a tempting proposition for the boys and girls in blue.

Police forces nationwide, which already use around 1,500 of our vehicles, are trialling the award-winning hot hatch now.

With a top speed of 165 miles per hour, and capable of achieving 60mph in 4.7 seconds, the Focus RS follows in the footsteps of the rally-inspired Ford Escort RS200, which police forces tested exactly 30 years ago.

Then, we took this shot of an RS200 stopping another performance icon of the era, the Ford Sierra Cosworth.

This time it’s the RS200’s turn to have its collar felt – by today’s RS.
