Each year, tens of thousands of car fans head to Switzerland for the Geneva Motor Show – among the biggest car shows in the world.
And this year they are in for a performance car-themed treat from Ford, as we show our next generation Fiesta ST hot hatchback for the first time, alongside our best range of sporty cars ever.
Ford’s performance cars are selling almost as fast as they accelerate. You bought almost 44,000 of them last year – 60 per cent more than 2015 – including the award-winning Focus RS and the iconic Ford Mustang that we are showing in two new special editions in Geneva: the Mustang Black Shadow Edition and Mustang Blue Edition.
We think the key to our performance cars’ popularity past and present is that they make the driving thrill of our racing cars available to everyone. We’re showcasing more than 50 years of our racing and fast road cars in Geneva, including the Ford GT and Ford GT40 race cars that won the famous Le Mans 24 Hours 50 years apart in 2016 and 1966 respectively.
There’s also the chance to see the new 216 mph Ford GT supercar in special ’66 Heritage Edition livery for the first time in Europe.
“Accessible performance is at the heart of what we do at Ford,” said Jim Farley, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe. “From the active aerodynamics of the Ford GT supercar to the Drive Modes of our next generation Fiesta ST, our Ford Performance models are developed using innovation that brings the driving thrill of our race cars to customers on the road.”
