2014 – ICYMI (in case you missed it) part 1

December 22, 2014

A car powered by sunshine, a boot you open with a kick, and a world gone stark staring Mustang-bonkers?

We called it 2014.

Here’s our look back at the top ten stories of the year, from ten to six.
We kicked off 2014 by announcing the development of a solar-powered car. The C-MAX Solar Energi Concept features a solar panel roof that draws power from a special solar concentrator lens similar to a magnifying glass.

Can you kick it? Yes (half of) you can
Hands-Free Tailgate means you can open the boot of the new Kuga with a kicking motion under the rear bumper. Handy when you’re shopping. Half of Kuga customers ordered one.

Food for thought
Imagine a car so clever that if you tell it you’re hungry it will not only find you a restaurant, but help you book a table and then guide you there? Voice-controlled connectivity system SYNC 2, does just that.

Last orders please
We developed the world’s first Drink Driving Suit to demonstrate to young drivers how alcohol can make easy tasks much harder. It features tunnel-vision glasses, ear muffs, wrist and ankle weights, and even makes walking in a straight line a challenge.

Mustang fever grips Europe
We made the first 500 Mustangs for Europe available to order online during the Champions League Final. We got that many registrations in the first 30 seconds alone.
